In 1983  was released “Kinshasa-Washington DC-Paris”  an album title which sums up the career of Ray Lema. Rumba-rock, funk, reggae, tradition, modernity, this first album of course, has countless influences. But this is the taking of point of an international career. The public and critical reception is excellent, especially at a time when world music is becoming a very commercial phenomenon. This first album will bring Lema to play with the drummer of the Police, Stewart Copeland with whom he recorded in 1985 “The Rythmatist”.

The album has been mixed by Philippe ABADIE at “Studio Continental” . The songs “KOTEJA”, “NAWELA NINI”, “KOLOTOKO” and “MAN OF THE UNIVERSE” have been recorded in april 1980 at the “Sea Saint Recording Studio” in New Orleans by Danny Jones.
